About Me

Welcome to Revival of the Fitness!

My name is Anjali, and I am a 21 year old from Ohio. In the past year, I have found a passion for all things exercise, good eats, and healthy living. I recently graduated college with a B.S. in Speech Pathology & Audiology and will be pursuing my Masters degree this Fall! Soon, I will be moving to a new city and can’t wait to explore and adjust to my new life as a graduate student.

The Straight Facts

1. I’m an H20 freak. I always have a water bottle near or on me at all times.

2. I’m not the best dancer..but I love to shake it!

3. Grocery shopping probably excites me way too much.

4. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is one of my favorite workouts!

5. I think I’m lactose intolerant–but I still love ice cream.

6. Coffee is essential in the morning for me.

7. I’m not the best at cooking, but I’m getting better and better with each experiment!

Growing up, I was always an athlete. From soccer, to basketball, to swimming, running, and dancing, I was always active. As a teenager, I cycled through swimming, running, and dance as my main activity. I joined my high school’s cross country and track team and was a member freshmen and sophomore year. During these years, I dedicated myself to running, running, and running.  By the end of my sophomore year I felt burned out and decided to give up running to take dance lessons.

When college came around, I found myself in a whole new world. I tried to balance exercise and healthy eating, but it proved to be a challenge. For the majority of college, my idea of exercise was frequenting the rec center two times a week for a thirty minute elliptical session (whilst reading a gossip mag) followed by an ab routine. My lack of motivation to exercise mixed with late night pizza and bagel sandwiches put me right at the freshmen 10. It wasn’t until half-way through my junior year, when my perspective of fitness changed.

My moment of revival came when I was stumbling around YouTube trying to find an ab exercise. Thus entered Tone It Up . Tone It Up is founded by two amazing women Karena & Katrina who are trainers and nutrition coaches. I was immediately drawn to their upbeat workouts and knew that I had finally found a solution to my mundane workouts. Since finding Tone It Up, I have purchased their nutrition plan, and have become a part of an amazing community of women from all over the world who love to motivate and support one another on their fitness journeys. Being a part of this community has allowed me to really educate myself on nutrition and fitness. Since July 2011, I have been on a journey to revive my workouts and my daily eats to create a fun and enjoyable lifestyle.

I got my “run” back!

Why blog?

I created this blog to share my daily experiences of exercise and healthy living. In addition, I hope to share how I strive to keep healthy living fun, adventurous, and exciting. I know how hard it can be to get out of a slump, but sometimes all it takes is a little revival of the fitness to truly enjoy healthy living. Now, I am not perfect by any means..after all, we are all human beings! Although I strive to exercise almost daily and eat “clean”, I also have my moments of indulgence. I am a sucker for all things sweet (chocolate, chocolate, chocolate), vino, and the occasional french fry. In the past year or so, I have learned that life is all about balance.

Vino + H20= balance! …right?

Sometimes balance means that you just want to crunch on celery sticks & hummus and other times you just wanna munch on a tortilla chip.
