1/2 Marathon, here I come!

27 Jul

Well, It’s official! I am signed up for my very FIRST 1/2 marathon!!!! Tonight I signed up for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital half marathon in Columbus, Ohio on October 21. I have been wanting to run a 1/2 marathon for quite some time, but it wasn’t until recently when I found that I was willing to actually commit to training. Why this half marathon you ask? I chose to run this specific half marathon for several reasons.

1. I am very familiar with the Columbus area and the commute to run it would only be 2 hrs.

2. The money is going to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Good cause.

3. This course is known to be very flat. Lot’s of marathoners actually use this race to qualify for bigger marathons such as the Boston Marathon.

4. I have many friends running the 1/2 and the full marathon. Having friends to keep you accountable is so important! I know that having friends to run with will really help me stay consistent with training.

I am excited/nervous/ pumped for this race. Completing the race will be a big milestone for me. I know training will present itself with many challenges, but I am ready to face these challenges. I hope that through blogging I will be able to document my training and all the ups and downs that come along with it.

Let me know if you have ever run a 1/2 marathon or marathon! I would love to hear your tips 🙂
