Road Trip Fuel

24 Jul

Oh man, it has been a long two days! Yesterday my dad and I embarked on a 4 hour trip to Cincinnati to start moving in some of furniture into my new place! Although I won’t be living there for another month, it was a great to get some of my things in there and start setting up.

I wanted to write a quick post about how to stay on track while traveling. Since the drive was long, my dad I knew that we would have to stop at some point to eat and use the restroom. We decided to pack a lunch before leaving so that we could eat healthy instead of falling into the fast food trap. Half way through the trip, we stopped at a McDonald’s. We only ordered coffees, but we still sat inside while we broke into our home-made lunches.

No grease here!

We brought turkey sandwiches on whole-wheat sandwich thins with avocado, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber and strawberries on the side. Now, I’m not sure if fast food places frown upon people bringing their own food..but sometimes you have to do what’s best for you when traveling. Pack a lunch next time you travel. I’m sure it’ll make you feel a lot better about your eating choices for the day! Also, be sure to pack plenty of healthy snacks! I like to pack Luna and Lara bars, mixed nuts, and dried fruit. I know it is tough to stay 100% on track while traveling, but making small steps such as packing a lunch can really help you out!

What do you like to pack for road trips?
