Hello friends and welcome to Revival of the Fitness!

This is my very first post and I am so excited to post often! I have thought about creating this blog for several months, but have finally committed to creating it and posting! I know this fitness blogging community is HUGE, but I hope that my blog can make some sort of contribution to this great community! Let’s get started shall we?

Morning

Some of you may or may not know that I recently had jaw surgery this summer. I am now fully recovered, but I chose not to get a job this summer because 1. I didn’t know how long I would be feeling crummy and 2. I wanted to relax a bit before entering into what many say is the toughest 2 years of life : Grad school. With that being said, I have had the luxury to sleep in most days this summer. Today I woke up at 9:00 and immediately strolled right to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. I absolutely love  need coffee in the morning. Nothing like the first sip! I enjoyed this morning’s coffee with a bowl of Kashi Go Lean Honey Almond Flax with almond milk.

After feeling rejuvenated from my coffee, I got into my workout clothes and headed on out for a short run. I was pleasantly surprised at my pace this morning! I felt like I was moving fast, but I still had energy to keep going. I chose to save some of that energy for my absolute favorite workout from the Tone It Up Beach Babe DVD, “HIIT the Beach.” This is a high intensity interval training workout which incorporates burst of high intensity moves to get your heart rate going followed by less intense toning moves. This workout never fails to leave me sweaty and smiley.

Lunch

I was especially excited to make lunch this afternoon. My mom just went grocery shopping yesterday and stocked our fridge with the essentials. Thanks mom 🙂

I was in the mood for a salad so I whipped it up using spinach, sliced cucumber, red pepper, sliced mushroom, left over grilled chicken, and sliced almonds and topped it off with a garlic salad dressing. It was delish!

Snack Time!

After running errands this afternoon, I started to get pretty darn hungry. When I got home, I decided to make a little creation involving one of my favorite veggies: cucumber!

yumm

Into the bowl went a handful of sliced cucumber, 1/4 tbs rice wine vinegar, 1/4 tbs of sesame oil, a sprinkle of sesame seeds, and crushed sliced almonds. I’m not lying..this was amazing! It had the perfect asian inspired zing to it, yet it was a great light afternoon snack.

I hope you all had a great start to your week!

Hi there Nadya! I used Map My Run! I just downloaded it recently and it does a stellar job on tracking my route, distance, pace, and calories. I love it!

I like to use Nike+GPS for my runs. I think it’s .99 or maybe free, but very similar to Map myRun. It’s an iPhone app.
